GB/T 18297-2024 Performance test code for road vehicle engines 1 Scope This document describes the bench test method for testing the performance of road vehicle engines, which is used to evaluate the performance of road vehicle engines. This document is applicable to gasoline and diesel engines used in Categories M and N vehicles. The engines are of reciprocating and rotor type other than free piston type. This standard may serve as a reference for vehicles using other types of fuels. 2 Normative references The following documents contain requirements which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 1883.1 Reciprocating internal combustion engines - Vocabulary - Part 1: Terms for engine design and operation GB/T 15089 Classification of power-driven vehicles and trailers 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 1883.1, GB/T 15089, and the following apply. 3.1 observed brake power power output by the engine under the actual intake state[1) All kinds of powers used in this document are calculated from the measured engine speed and torque value under different conditions when the accelerator is at full load (i.e. floored), expressed in kW.]1) 3.2 corrected brake power observed brake power having been corrected to the standard intake state 3.3 net power power measured at the end of the engine crankshaft or its equivalent parts at the corresponding speed and corrected according to the standard inlet state when the engine is tested with a complete set of accessories Note: The complete set of accessories refers to all accessories that are consistent with the vehicle state and serve the engine body according to the provisions of Clause 7. 3.4 gross power power measured at the end of the engine crankshaft or its equivalent parts at the corresponding speed and corrected according to the standard inlet state when the engine is tested with only the necessary accessories to maintain operation 3.5 rated power total power output by the engine at rated speed, as specified by the manufacturer according to the specific purpose of the engine 3.6 gaseous pollutants concentration volume fractions of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and total hydrocarbons (THC) in engine exhaust Note: The volume fraction of carbon monoxide (CO) is measured using the non-dispersive infrared absorption method. The volume fraction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) is measured using chemiluminescence or non-dispersive ultraviolet absorption methods.
