This document specifies the principles, test solutions, specimens, method selection, procedures, result calculation, reproducibility, and test reporting for determining the mass of zinc coatings per unit area on steel products.
This document applies to pure zinc coatings, zinc-iron alloy coatings, zinc-magnesium alloy coatings, zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy coatings, aluminum-zinc alloy coatings, and aluminum-zinc-magnesium alloy coatings.
Other coating types such as aluminum-silicon alloy coatings may refer to this document.

4 Test Specimens
4.1 Sampling locations, positions, and quantities shall comply with relevant product standards or agreements.
4.2 The test area shall be selected according to coating thickness to meet weighing accuracy requirements.
4.3 Avoid surface scratches when cutting specimens. Specimens with obvious local damage shall not be used.
4.4 For steel plates and strips, specimens may be circular or square. For arbitration tests, the single-side area shall not be less than 1,500.0 mm².
4.5 For steel wires, specimen length shall be cut according to Table 1.
