本标准规定了动物饲料中淀粉含量测定的旋光法。
本标准适用于饲料原料、配合饲料、精料补充料、浓缩饲料和添加剂预混料中淀粉含量的测定。
本标准不适用于含有在分析过程中具有光学活性，且不溶于40%乙醇的淀粉以外的其他物质的产品，如马铃薯浆，甜菜的丝、叶、根、冠，酵母，大豆产品，羽扇豆以及富含葡萄糖的产品（如菊苣根和菊芋），此时可用酶法测定淀粉含量。
本标准不适用于直链淀粉超过40%的淀粉, 如高直链玉米淀粉HylonVII的定量测定。
