This part has been changed largely from ISO 3917:2016 in terms of structure. See Annex A for the comparison between this part and ISO 3917:2016 in clause No. This part includes technical differences with respect to ISO 3917:2016. The clauses and subclauses concerned are identified by a vertical single line (|) located in the blank on its external margin of the page. These technical changes and reasons are listed in Annex B. The following editorial changes have been made in this part: ——The standard name is modified. This part was proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. This part is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization (SAC/TC 114). The previous editions of this part are as follows: ——GB 5137.3-1985, GB/T 5137.3-1996 and GB/T 5137.3-2002. Test methods of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles— Part 3: Radiation, high temperature, humidity, fire and simulated weathering resistance tests 1 Scope This part of GB/T 5137 specifies the methods of radiation resistance test, heat resistance test, humidity resistance test, fire resistance test and simulated weathering resistance test of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles. This part is applicable to the test of safety glazing materials used on road vehicle. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 5137.1 Test methods of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles—Part 1: Mechanical properties tests (GB/T 5137.1-2020, ISO 3537:2015, MOD) GB/T 5137.2 Test methods of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles—Part 2: Optical properties tests (GB/T 5137.2-2020, ISO 3538:1997, MOD) GB 8410 Flammability of automotive interior materials GB 9656 Safety glazing materials for road vehicles GB/T 16422.2-2014 Plastics—Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources—Part 2: Xenon-arc sources (ISO 4892-2:2006, IDT) QC/T 1119 Road vehicles—Safety glazing materials—Vocabulary (QC/T 1119-2019, ISO 3536:2016, MOD) 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in QC/T 1119 apply. 4 Test conditions Unless otherwise specified, the tests shall be carried out under the following conditions: a) Ambient temperature: 20±5°C; b) Atmospheric pressure: 8.60×104 Pa to 1.06×105 Pa; c) Relative humidity: 40%-80%. 5 Irradiation resistance test 5.1 Test objectives Determination of whether exposure to radiation over an extended period of time produces any appreciable decrease in regular luminous transmittance or any pronounced discoloration of the safety glazing material. 5.2 Apparatus 5.2.1 Irradiation source Radiation source, consisting of a medium pressure mercury arc lamp with a tubular quartz bulb of ozone-free type. The bulb axis shall be vertical. The lamp shall have a nominal length of 360 mm, a diameter of 9.5 mm, an arc length of 300 mm±14 mm and an operating power of 750 W ± 50 W. In the case of safety glazing material for which there is no satisfactory correlation between this test and the conditions of use, it will be necessary to review the test conditions. 5.2.2 Power supply The power supply shall be capable of supplying an AC power with a minimum starting peak voltage of 1 100 V and an operating voltage of 500 V±50 V for the arc lamp (5.2.1). 5.2.3 Device for rotating the test specimens The device shall be capable of rotating the test specimens at 1 r/min to 5 r/min about the centrally located radiation source in order to ensure even exposure. 5.3 Test specimens The size of the test specimens shall be 300 mm × 76 mm. The special flat test piece or the test piece cut from the flat part of the product is used as the specimen. When cutting the test piece, if the product is the safety glazing material for windshield, it shall be cut from the visible light transmittance measurement test area, and one short side of the test piece shall be part of the upper edge of the visible light transmittance test area, which shall comply with GB 9656; if the product is safety glass used outside the windshield, one short side of the test piece shall be a part of the original side of the upper part of the product. 5.4 Procedure 5.4.1 The specimen shall be kept under the conditions specified in Clause 4 for 4 h before the test. 5.4.2 Before irradiation, measure the luminous transmittance of the specimen according to GB/T 5137.2. Protect a portion of each test specimen from the radiation, and then position the test specimen in the test apparatus 230 mm from the lamp axis. Maintain the temperature of the test specimens at 45 °C±5 °C throughout the test. The surface of each test specimen which would represent the outside face of the safety glazing material when mounted on the vehicle shall face the lamp. The exposure time shall be 100 h. 5.4.3 After exposure, measure the luminous transmittance again on each test specimen in the exposed area. 5.4.4 The results of the luminous transmission measurement of the exposed test specimen shall be compared with the values obtained for unexposed test specimens of the same material. For discolored or dimmable glass, the lowest and highest luminous transmittance of test specimen before and after irradiation shall be measured respectively, and the lowest luminous transmittance and the highest luminous transmittance of the same specimen before and after irradiation shall be compared. 5.4.5 Changes in colour shall be evaluated either by: examining the test specimens placed upon a white background and comparing the exposed area with the area which was protected from the radiation, or measuring the trichromatic coordinates of the test specimen before and after aging and by calculating the difference between two colours according to the CIE prescriptions. 5.4.6 When inspecting with white background, observe and record the appearance changes such as discoloration, bubbling and turbidity.
