1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of cassava.
This standard is applicable to the assessment on edible cassava, industrial cassava and cassava for animal feed.
Important note: Fresh cassava shall not be eaten before cooking, and shall be eaten after peeling, stewing, etc.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

edible cassava
fresh cassava that can be eaten after stewing or other cooking procedure

fresh cassava used for producing starch, alcohol and other processed products

cassava for animal feed
fresh cassava used for processing feed or as feed raw material
4 Requirements
4.1 Basic requirements
The cassava shall have obvious varietal characters, fresh and clean appearance, be free of obvious defects (plant diseases and insect pests, decay, mildew spots, mechanical injure) and regular shape, and the pulp shall be free of blackened texture, peculiar smell or obvious sediment and other attachments.
4.2 Quality safety requirements
The quality safety indicators of edible cassava, cassava as raw material for industrial and cassava for animal feed shall meet those specified in Table 1.

5 Test methods
5.1 Measuring parts
The pollutant limit indicators such as total arsenic, lead, cadmium, total mercury, starch and hydrogen cyanide are measured in edible parts of fresh cassava (pulp). The pesticide residue limit indicators such as abamectin, acetochlor, trichlorfon, dimethoate and chlorpyrifos are measured in the whole fresh cassava (including peel).
