This standard is applicable to motorcycles and mopeds powered by spark-ignition engines and right three-wheeled motorcycles powered by compression-ignition engines.
This standard is not applicable to the vehicles only consuming gas fuel or alcohol fuel.

4.1 Calculation methods

5 Measurement methods of fuel consumption
5.1 Test types
5.1.1 Only Type I test shall be conducted for two-wheeled motorcycles and side three-wheeled motorcycles.
5.1.2 Both Type I test and Type II test shall be conducted for two-wheeled mopeds, right three-wheeled mopeds and right three-wheeled motorcycles.
5.1.3 Type I test is completed on chassis dynamometer, while Type II test is completed on road or chassis dynamometer.
5.2 General requirements
5.2.1 Test vehicle
5.2.1.1 The manufacturer or its authorized agent shall submit product description information in accordance with those specified in Annex A.
5.2.1.2 In case of test on chassis dynamometer, the status of test motorcycle shall meet relevant requirements of C.2.2 in GB 14622-2016 while that of test moped shall meet relevant requirements of C.2.2 in GB 18176-2016. The classification of two-wheeled motorcycles shall conform to the relevant requirements of C.2.3 in GB 14622-2016. The sidecar shall be dismantled and the side three-wheeled motorcycles shall be tested as the two-wheeled motorcycles.
5.2.1.3 In case of test on road, the load distribution of front axle and rear axle of the test vehicle shall meet the requirements of the manufacturer's technical document. As for the measurement device installed on the test vehicle, its effect on the original load distribution shall be minimized and its mass shall be included in the test record.
5.2.1.4 Where measurement device and speed sensor are installed on outer side of the test vehicle, the additional air resistance shall be minimized as possible.

5 Measurement methods of fuel consumption
5.1 Test types
5.1.1 Only Type I test shall be conducted for two-wheeled motorcycles and side three-wheeled motorcycles.
5.1.2 Both Type I test and Type II test shall be conducted for two-wheeled mopeds, right three-wheeled mopeds and right three-wheeled motorcycles.
5.1.3 Type I test is completed on chassis dynamometer, while Type II test is completed on road or chassis dynamometer.
5.2 General requirements
5.2.1 Test vehicle
5.2.1.1 The manufacturer or its authorized agent shall submit product description information in accordance with those specified in Annex A.
5.2.1.2 In case of test on chassis dynamometer, the status of test motorcycle shall meet relevant requirements of C.2.2 in GB 14622-2016 while that of test moped shall meet relevant requirements of C.2.2 in GB 18176-2016. The classification of two-wheeled motorcycles shall conform to the relevant requirements of C.2.3 in GB 14622-2016. The sidecar shall be dismantled and the side three-wheeled motorcycles shall be tested as the two-wheeled motorcycles.
5.2.1.3 In case of test on road, the load distribution of front axle and rear axle of the test vehicle shall meet the requirements of the manufacturer's technical document. As for the measurement device installed on the test vehicle, its effect on the original load distribution shall be minimized and its mass shall be included in the test record.
5.2.1.4 Where measurement device and speed sensor are installed on outer side of the test vehicle, the additional air resistance shall be minimized as possible.
