3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5907 (all parts), GB/T 9978.1 and the following apply.
3.1
fire damper
smoke prevention equipment that can meet the specified fire resistance grade requirements and play a role in isolating smoke and fire within a certain period of time, which is installed on the air supply and return ducts of ventilation and air conditioning systems or installed at the branch pipe connecting the fume exhaust ducts and the vertical exhaust ducts in kitchens of public buildings, and keeps open in daily time but gets closed when the smoke and gas temperature in the pipe reaches the rated operating temperature
Note: Fire damper is generally composed of such components as valve body, blade, open and close device and thermal release mechanism.
3.2
combination fire and smoke damper
smoke exhaust equipment with smoke isolation and fire resistance, which is installed on the pipe of the mechanical smoke exhaust system, keeps open in daily time but get closed when the smoke temperature in the smoke exhaust duct reaches 280°C, can meet the requirements of smoke leakage and fire resistance integrity within a certain period of time
Note: Combination fire and smoke damper is generally composed of such components as valve body, blade, open and close device and thermal release mechanism.
3.3
smoke damper
smoke exhaust equipment installed at the end of each branch pipe (smoke suction port) of the mechanical smoke exhaust system, which keeps closed and meets the air leakage requirements in daily time but manually and electrically gets open in case of fire or in need for smoke exhaust, and thus plays the role of smoke exhaust
Note: Smoke damper is generally composed of such components as valve body, blade, as well as open and close device. Smoke damper equipped with decorative materials or accessories is usually called smoke exhaust port.
3.4
constant closed ventilation valve
ventilation equipment installed in the front room of the stairs, on the side of the smoke prevention system duct or at the end of the air duct, which keeps closed and meets the requirements of air leakage in daily time but manually and electrically gets open and plays a role of pressurization and ventilation in case of fire or in need for an auxiliary pressurization system to ventilate
Note: Constant closed ventilation valve is generally composed of valve body, blade, open and close device. Constant closed ventilation valve equipped with decorative materials or accessories is usually called constant closed vent.
3.5
automatic smoke exhaust window
smoke exhaust equipment installed on the top or exterior wall of the smoke exhaust area of a building, which can open the window sash
manually, by thermal release mechanism or under the control of an automatic fire alarm system, so that smoke and hot air is exhausted out of the room in a natural ventilation manner
Note: Automatic smoke exhaust window is generally composed of window body, window sash, open and close device, thermal release mechanism, power source.
3.6
open and close device
device installed on a fire damper for building venting and smoke-venting system, and operated by manual control, electric control or thermal release mechanism to realize the open and close function of the fire damper
Note: According to the functional requirements, the open and close operation of the open and close device may be a combination of one or several control modes.
3.7
thermal release mechanism
temperature control device for evaluating the air flow temperature parameter at a preset position, which can start and control the close and open of the dampers, automatic smoke exhaust window, etc. when it reaches the preset value
Note: The temperature sensing element is fusible sheet, memory alloy and electronic sensor.
4 Classification and code, nominal dimension and model
4.1 Classification and code
4.1.1 Classification by purpose
Fire dampers are classified by uses into five categories: fire dampers, combination fire and smoke dampers, smoke dampers, constant closed ventilation valves, and automatic smoke exhaust windows. The product names and codes shall be as specified in Table 1.
