1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage all regarding roller skates.
This standard is applicable to roller skates for athletics and leisure.

3 Classification
3.1 Classified into single-row roller skates and double-row roller skates based on roller arrangement mode.
3.2 Classified into fixed roller skates and demountable roller skates based on the mode in which the shoe connects with the roller stand.
3.3 Classified into Category A and Category B based on functions; Category A roller skates are for athletics and generally cover speed roller skates, limit roller skates, flat-ground figure roller skates (single row), figure roller skates (double-row) and rollerball-dedicated skates; Category B roller skates are for leisure.
4 Requirements
4.1 Skate Size and Model
Skate size and model are in accordance with those specified in GB/T 3293-1982 and GB/T 3293.1-1998.
4.2 Appearance
4.2.1 The whole skate is upright and identical positions of the same pair of skates are symmetrical; all positions are well processed and free from damage, deformation and color difference.
4.2.2 Surface of plastic parts shall be smooth and free from obvious roughness, bruise, deformation, crack, color difference and obvious sprue trimming; edges shall transit smoothly and shall be free from rift and burrs.
4.2.3 Metal parts shall be subjected to anti-corrosion treatment, of which the surface shall be with uniform and consistent color and free from bumping, scratch, pointedness and burrs; riveting shall be flat, smooth and firm and free from bending, tilting and cracking.
4.3 Dimensions
Allowable dimension tolerance for symmetrical positions of the same pair of roller skates shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.

4.4 General requirements
4.4.1 Rollers of roller skates shall touch down simultaneously (unless specially required) and shall not decentre and fluctuate while rotating.
4.4.2 Foam sandwiched by neck bush of the injection-molded roller skates shall not be less than 8mm in thickness and shall be 25mm higher than the waist quarter.
4.4.3 The position where roller stand is mounted shall align with the centre line of roller skates soling, with the lateral deviation not greater than 1mm.
4.4.4 Roller hardness shall not exceed Shore A92.
4.4.5 As for abrasion resistance of roller, abrasion loss for Category A is not greater than 8% of the proper mass and that for Category B is not greater than 5% of the proper mass.
4.4.6 High/low temperature test
4.4.6.1 Bubble, pockmark and obvious discolouration and deformation shall be avoided after high temperature test.
4.4.6.2 Chap and damage shall be avoided after low temperature test.
4.5 Safety requirements
4.5.1 Accessible position shall be free from sharp edge and hazardous sharp point.
4.5.2 Fasteners shall be tight and reliable, free from looseness.
4.5.3 Adjusting mechanism shall perform adjustment flexibly and roller stand shall be fixed firmly and reliably.
4.5.4 Handiness shall be guaranteed; roller stand and its accessories shall not contact the roller in case of normal sliding.
4.5.5 Restraint device shall be free from thread slipping and fracture after test.
4.5.6 Bearings shall be assembled firmly and flexibly, free from jamming or blocking; dust cap shall be free from looseness; both bearings and dust cap shall be capable of operating normally after endurance test.
4.5.7 Exposed length of axle is not greater than 3mm and exposed end shall be with chamfer of which the radius is not less than 5mm. No looseness, displacement and deformation shall be found after the endurance test.
4.5.8 Skate and roller stand shall be connected with each other firmly; neither skate nor roller stand shall be subjected to looseness, deformation and fracture after test.
4.5.9 All components shall be free from damage, deformation and any phenomenon blocking sliding after the vertical impact test.
4.5.10 Roller
4.5.10.1 Friction coefficient: not less than 0.3 for double-row Category A and 0.2 for double-row Category B; not less than 0.3 for single-row roller.
4.5.10.2 All relevant connecting pieces shall be free from looseness, damage, deformation and blocking sliding after head-on impact and endurance test of the rollers.
4.5.11 Brake
4.5.11.1 As for roller skates installed with brake, the brake shall be more than 10mm over the roller stand and the braking area shall not be less than 300mm2; brake bottom shall be at least 10mm over the ground; while the brake touches the ground, the included angle between roller horizontal line and ground shall be 12°~25°.
4.5.11.2 Brake shall be free from looseness after the torsion test.
4.5.11.3 Brake shall be free from fracture, deformation and blocking sliding after head-on impact test.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Visual inspection on appearance
5.2 Inspect the sharp-edged-and-pointed protrusion with round bar with diameter of 50mm and length of 75mm, which is as shown in Figure 1.

5.3 Measure relevant dimensions with general measuring and inspection tool of which the precision is not less than 0.5mm.
5.4 Measure the angle with universal protractor.
5.5 As for simultaneous touch-down test of rollers, try to make roller skates slide onto flat plate under dead weight, observe the degree that roller toches with flat plate and perform visual and manual inspection on the flexibility of both bearings and adjusting mechanism at the same time.
5.6 As for the handleability test, the trier weighing 75kg just slides along any direction and with any actions, during which, neither roller stand nor its accessories shall touch with the roller.
5.7 Test the torsional force of brake with torque wrench and the torsional moment is not less than 8N·m.
5.8 Test roller hardness in accordance with GB/T 2411-1980.
5.9 Test the reliability of restraint device with universal material tester at the speed of 50mm/min; Category A and Category B restraint devices shall respectively be capable of bearing the tensile force of 700N and 500N, free from any slippage and fracture.
5.10 As for the friction coefficient test, try to place roller skates onto flat steel plate with surface rounghness Ra being 1.5μm~2.0μm, make axle of roller skates vertical to the direction along which the steel plate grinds, place 40kg of double-row heavy objects and 10.2kg of single-row heavy objects onto roller skates, then apply gradually the tensile force parraele to the axle, see Figure 2, read the maximum tensile force F, test for totally 3 times, adopt the corresponding average value and calculate the friction coefficient according to Formula (1):

3 Classification

4 Requirements
