This standard is corresponding to but not equivalent to ISO 17292:2004 Metal Ball Valves for Petroleum, Petrochemical and Allied Industries and API 608-2002 Metal Ball Valves-Flanged, Threaded and Welding Ends. Compared with ISO 17292:2004/API 608-2002, there is a very large difference in the main technical contents and the standard text structure.
This standard is revised from GB/T 12237-1989 "General Purpose Industrial Valves-Flanged and Butt-weld End Steel Ball Valves". Compared with GB/T 12237-1989, the main changes are as follows
--The standard name is modified
--The application scope is enlarged
--The temperature-pressure rating value of PTFE valve seat is added, and a limit explanation is made to the temperature-pressure rating value of the seals of nonmetallic valve seat for ball valve;
--The requirements for hole diameter and hole depth of DN8~DN50 socket weld ends are added, and the requirements for the wall thickness at the socket weld connection end and threaded connection end are added;
--The requirements for the minimum diameter of valve seat are added;
--The technical requirements for dimension and performance of connecting bolts between valve bodies are added;
--The material requirements are modified;
--The requirements for the hardness of connecting bolt for valve body and valve cover and of valve stem material;
--The test methods and inspection requirements are modified, and the type test content is added;
--The marking requirements are modified;
--The supply requirements are modified;
--Appendix A Order Contract Data Sheet is added.
This standard shall replace GB/T 12237-1989 from the implementation date.
Appendix A of this standard is informative.

5 Technical Requirements
5.1 Pressure-Temperature Rating
5.1.1 Pressure-Temperature Rating for Ball Valve Housing
The pressure-temperature rating for ball valve housing is subject to the requirements of GB/T 12224.
5.1.2 Pressure-Temperature Rating for Ball Valve Seat and Seal Components
5.1.2.1 Due to the limits for the pressure-temperature rating for ball valve seat, seal components and other non-metallic materials, the pressure-temperature rating permissible by ball valve may be limited. The pressure-temperature rating for ball valve seat, seal components and other non-metallic materials should be expressly provided on the nameplate, and be no higher than the pressure-temperature rating for ball valve housing.
5.1.2 If the Teflon or PTFE is available for the materials of ball valve seat and seal components, the maximum allowable working pressure-temperature rating for ball valve seat and seal components should be subject to Table 1.
