This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 19095-2008 The classification signs for municipal solid waste. In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 19095-2008:
——Clause of application scope is modified (see clause 1; clause 1 of 2008 Edition);
——Clause of "normative references" is added (see clause 2);
——The category composition of the signs is modified: four categories of signs are deleted, i.e. "Bulky waste", "Combustible Waste", "Compostable Waste" and "Bottle & Can" and six categories of signs are added, i.e. "Food Waste", "Tubes", "Household Chemicals", "Household Food Waste", "Restaurant Food Waste" and "Other Food Waste" (see clause 3; 2.1 of 2008 Edition);
——"Graphic symbols for categories of signs" and "Graphic symbols for subcategories of signs", as well as regulations on graphic symbols, meanings and descriptions of each classification are added (see clauses 4 and 6);
——The graphic symbols of "Bulky waste", "Combustible Waste", "Compostable Waste" and "Bottle & Can” are deleted (see Table 2 in the 2008 Edition);
——The graphic symbols of "Food Waste", "Tubes", "Household Chemicals", "Restaurant Food Waste" and "Other Food Waste" are added (see Tables 2, 8 and 9);
——The graphic symbols of "Hazardous Waste", "Residual Waste" and "Glass" are modified (see Table 2 and Table 7; Nos. 2~6 and No. 10 in Table 2 of 2008 Edition);
——The graphic symbol of "Food Scrap" is modified to that of "Household Food Waste" (see Table 9; Table 2 of 2008 Edition);
——The design contents and requirements for the layout, size and color combination of the signs, as well as the color scheme for signs of simple graph, vertical graphic combination and horizontal graphic combination are added (see clauses 5 and 7);
——Requirements for the position, specifications, installation, materials and maintenance of signs are added (see clause 8);
——The schematic diagram of color signs is deleted (see Appendix A of 2008 Edition);
——Reference examples of "Hazardous Waste" and "Food Waste" signs are added and the graphic signs of "Harmful Waste" and "Food Scrap" in the 2008 Edition are shifted to A.1 (see Annex A; No.2 and No.14 of Table 2 in the 2008 Edition);
——"Example for setting the signs" is added (see Annex B).

1 Scope
This standard specifies the signs for classification of municipal solid waste (hereinafter referred to as “the signs”) in terms of categories, graphic symbols for main categories, design of main categories of signs, graphic symbols for subcategories, design of subcategories of signs and setting of the signs.
This standard is applicable to sorted placement, collection and transportation, and disposal of municipal solid waste.
