3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 10647 and the following apply.
3.1
brown fish meal
product obtained by steaming, squeezing, drying and crushing whole fish (except raw fish for white fish meal) as raw materials
Note 1: The raw fish are mainly those which are inedible by humans.
Note 2: The brown fish meal includes fish and shrimp meal.
3.2
white fish meal
product obtained by steaming, squeezing, drying and crushing whole fish of white-fleshed fish such as cod and plaice or the remaining parts of the processed fish products (including fish bones, fish viscera, fish heads, fish tails, fish skins, fish fins, etc.) as raw materials
3.3
fish meal from by-product of fish processing
product obtained by steaming, squeezing, drying and crushing the remaining part of fish products processed from fish bodies other than raw fish for white fish meal (including fish bones, fish viscera, fish heads, fish tails, fish skin, and fish fins) as raw materials
Note: It includes by-products from the processing of fish caught in the ocean and other fish.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Requirements for raw materials
Raw materials shall be fresh. Raw materials that are decayed, suffer from epidemics and diseases, have excessive residues of agricultural and veterinary drugs, or are contaminated with toxic and harmful substances such as petroleum or heavy metals shall not be used. When necessary, raw materials shall be sorted to remove sand, stone, vegetation, metals, and other sundries. Feed additives, antioxidants, and preservatives may be added and used according to Catalogue of feed additive varieties and Norms for safe application of feed additives.
