1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, accompanied documents, transportation, storage and the like of car carriers.
This standard is applicable to trucks, trailers and trains which can run on roads designed especially for transportation of passenger vehicles; dedicated vehicles for transporting other kinds of vehicles may also refer to the provisions of this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
car carrier
dedicated vehicles, such as trucks, trailers and trains designed especially for transporting passenger vehicles, which are equipped with a goods platform for loading, transporting and fixing vehicles, and a springboard for on-board and off-board of vehicles
3.2
goods vehicle for car carrier
dedicated vehicles modified on the shaped goods vehicle chassis, with a single or multi-layer goods platform(s) for loading and transporting passenger vehicles, which may also be equipped with related connecting devices to tow center-axle trailers
3.3
trailer for car carrier
dedicated trailers equipped with single or multi-layer goods platform(s) for loading and transporting passenger vehicles (including semi-trailer and center-axle trailer)
3.4
semi-trailer towing vehicle for car carrier
dedicated semi-trailer towing vehicles equipped with goods platform for loading and transporting passenger vehicles

4 Technical Requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Car carriers shall be manufactured according to drawings and technical documents approved by the required procedures.
4.1.2 Purchased and outsourced parts shall meet the requirements of relevant standards and be provided with manufacturer's certificates, which shall not be used until passing the factory inspection of complete vehicle. All self-made parts and components shall not be used until passing the inspection.
4.1.3 The design and installation of towing vehicles and trailers shall ensure the reasonable match, reliable connection and the use safety of related electricity, gas, hydraulic pressure and their control.
4.1.4 In product technical documents of towing vehicles and trailers, such parameters as critical dimension and mass limit of outline and connection and the like adapting to trailer or towing vehicle shall be explicitly stated.
4.1.5 Semi-trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T 23336 and center-axle trailer shall refer to GB/T 23336.
4.1.6 The outline dimension, axle load and mass limit of car carrier as well as clearance circle, out value and the like shall meet the requirements of GB 1589.
4.1.7 The design of center axle trailer train of car carrier shall meet the driving requirements for second-class or above road.
4.2 Performance requirements
4.2.1 Braking performance of car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB 7258, GB 12676 and GB/T 13594.
4.2.2 Specific power of car carrier [maximum net power of engine/total mass of vehicle (train)] shall not be less than 5.4kW/t and maximum speed at full-load shall not be less than 90km/h.
4.2.3 Rear amplification coefficient of lateral acceleration of train for car carrier should not be greater than 2.0.
4.2.4 Where train for car carrier runs in straight line at speed of 30km/h on flat and dry road surface, the maximum offset between center line of rear axle wheelmark for trailers and that of front axle wheelmark for towing vehicles shall not be greater than 110mm.
4.3 Structure requirements
4.3.1 Semi-trailer towing vehicle shall be equipped with 50 fifth wheel meeting the requirements of GB/T 13880 and GB/T 31879 and 50 fifth wheel coupling pin in accordance with the requirements in GB/T 4606 and GB/T 15088 shall be adopted for semi-trailer for car carrier.
4.3.2 Interchangeability of mechanical coupling between semi-trailer towing vehicle and semi-trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T 20070.
4.3.3 Interchangeability of drawbar coupling between goods vehicle for car carrier and center-axle trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T 32860.
4.3.4 Interchangeability of mechanical coupling between goods vehicle for car carrier and center-axle trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of ISO 11407.
4.3.5 The distance between the towing ring center of center-axle trailer for car carrier and center of trailer axle or axle group shall not be greater than 7 300mm.
4.3.6 Such requirements as installation position, dimension and clearance space of electrical coupler between towing vehicle and trailer shall be in accordance with GB/T 32861.
4.3.7 All pipelines and circuits shall be distributed reasonably, fixed firmly and clamped reliably; frictional interference phenomenon shall not occur in the process of vehicle running; pipelines for oil, gas and water shall be free from leakage.
4.3.8 Under no-load conditions, the minimum ground clearance of car carrier shall not be less than 150mm.
4.3.9 Lateral and rear underrun protections for car carriers shall meet the requirements of GB 11567.1 and GB 11567.2.
4.3.10 The arrangement of license plate (cracket) shall meet the requirements of GB 15741 and GB 7258.
4.4 Configuration requirements
4.4.1 Semi-trailer towing vehicle, semi-trailer towing vehicle for car carrier and vehicle goods for car carrier shall be installed with satellite positioning on-board terminal in accordance with JT/T 794 as well as relevant standards.
4.4.2 Car carrier shall be equipped with anti-lock braking system meeting the requirements of GB/T 13594.
4.4.3 Car vehicle shall be provided with radial tyre; tubeless radial tyre or wide cross-section single tyre should be used; and sum of each tyre load shall meet the requirements of axle loading.
4.4.4 Before installation, all wheels of car carrier should be subjected to dynamic balance test and shall meet the requirements of the enterprise technical documents.
4.4.5 Car carrier shall be equipped with devices for indirect vision meeting the requirements of GB 15084.
4.4.6 Car carrier shall be equipped with external lighting and light-signalling devices meeting the requirements of GB 4785.
4.4.7 The installation and stick of vehicle body reflective marking shall meet the requirements of GB 23254 and GB 7258 and installation of rear-marking plate of vehicle shall meet the requirements of GB 25990 and GB 7258.
4.4.8 Goods vehicle for car carrier or train for car carrier shall be arranged with at least 2 fire extinguishers, which are in accordance with relevant fire protection requirements and not less than 5kg, and they shall be firmly fixed and convenient for taking and using.
4.4.9 The spare tyre shall be firmly fixed and convenient for assembly and disassembly.
4.5 Process requirements
4.5.1 Welding quality of welding parts shall meet the requirements of JB/T 5943; weld joint shall be flat, smooth, uniform and free from defects such as melting through, missing welding, crack, gas hole and slag. Welding slag shall be completely removed.
4.5.2 The riveting shall be firm in alignment; rivet head shall be free from any crack, deflection and incompletion; the clearance between rivet head and metal contact area shall not be greater than 0.05mm.
4.5.3 All fasteners shall be subjected to rust-proof treatment on the surface and each coupling part shall be firm and reliable.
4.5.4 Lubricating grease filler shall be completely assembled and filled with lubricating grease and other rubbing surfaces shall be coated with lubricating grease according to the requirements.
4.6 Requirements for goods platform
4.6.1 Protective barrier (mesh) shall be arranged on left and right sides of topside goods platform of car carrier, and the height between protective barrier (mesh) top and topside goods platform surface shall not be less than 800mm. At the binding operation position, vertical distance between the uttermost end of protective barrier (mesh) and stamping position of the upper-layer goods platform shall between 500~800mm.
4.6.2 Running passage for loaded vehicle of goods platform for car carrier shall be provided with anti-sliding function. When upper-layer movable goods platform completely falls into its position at no-load status, it shall fit closely with supporting base, however, a clearance not greater than 6mm at one side is permissible.
4.6.3 Transitional springboard connecting goods platform and ground shall be flexibly and reliably retracting and extending, whose width shall not be less than 380mm and the included angle with the ground shall not be greater than 12°.
4.6.4 Each movable part of goods platform shall be of flexible and reliable action, and free from blockage and interference phenomenon.
4.6.5 Car carrier shall be equipped with wheel stopping device to ensure no moving happen to loaded vehicles in case of parking as well as quick and effective clamp device for loaded vehicles; the clamp device should be selected in accordance with tie-down appliances specified in GB/T 31083.
4.6.6 On car carrier, the permissible outline dimension limit of loaded vehicle on each loading position shall be explicitly stated and the safety clearance between loaded vehicles shall be met. The minimum spacing in longitudinal direction between loaded vehicles, and between loaded vehicle and front and back ends of carriage and minimum vertical spacing between loaded vehicle top and upper-layer goods platform or lower end of ceiling all shall not be less than 100mm; the minimum vertical spacing between bottom of loaded vehicle and goods platform upper side shall not be less than 60mm; the minimum horizontal spacing between either side of loaded vehicle and inner side of car carrier shall not be less than 100mm; and the minimum horizontal spacing between either side of loaded vehicle and inner side of chassis wheelcover of car carrier shall not be less than 50mm.
4.6.7 The design of car carrier shall ensure the free access for the loaded vehicle driver.
4.6.8 Goods platform for vehicle parking shall be free from sharp corner and sharp edge which may cause stab or scratch on vehicle tyre.

4 Technical Requirements
4.1 General requirements

4.3.2 Interchangeability of mechanical coupling between semi-trailer towing vehicle and semi-trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T 20070.
4.3.3 Interchangeability of drawbar coupling between goods vehicle for car carrier and center-axle trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of GB/T 32860.
4.3.4 Interchangeability of mechanical coupling between goods vehicle for car carrier and center-axle trailer for car carrier shall meet the requirements of ISO 11407.
4.3.5 The distance between the towing ring center of center-axle trailer for car carrier and center of trailer axle or axle group shall not be greater than 7 300mm.
4.3.6 Such requirements as installation position, dimension and clearance space of electrical coupler between towing vehicle and trailer shall be in accordance with GB/T 32861.
4.3.7 All pipelines and circuits shall be distributed reasonably, fixed firmly and clamped reliably; frictional interference phenomenon shall not occur in the process of vehicle running; pipelines for oil, gas and water shall be free from leakage.
4.3.8 Under no-load conditions, the minimum ground clearance of car carrier shall not be less than 150mm.
4.3.9 Lateral and rear underrun protections for car carriers shall meet the requirements of GB 11567.1 and GB 11567.2.
4.3.10 The arrangement of license plate (cracket) shall meet the requirements of GB 15741 and GB 7258.
4.4 Configuration requirements
4.4.1 Semi-trailer towing vehicle, semi-trailer towing vehicle for car carrier and vehicle goods for car carrier shall be installed with satellite positioning on-board terminal in accordance with JT/T 794 as well as relevant standards.
4.4.2 Car carrier shall be equipped with anti-lock braking system meeting the requirements of GB/T 13594.
4.4.3 Car vehicle shall be provided with radial tyre; tubeless radial tyre or wide cross-section single tyre should be used; and sum of each tyre load shall meet the requirements of axle loading.
4.4.4 Before installation, all wheels of car carrier should be subjected to dynamic balance test and shall meet the requirements of the enterprise technical documents.
4.4.5 Car carrier shall be equipped with devices for indirect vision meeting the requirements of GB 15084.
4.4.6 Car carrier shall be equipped with external lighting and light-signalling devices meeting the requirements of GB 4785.
4.4.7 The installation and stick of vehicle body reflective marking shall meet the requirements of GB 23254 and GB 7258 and installation of rear-marking plate of vehicle shall meet the requirements of GB 25990 and GB 7258.
4.4.8 Goods vehicle for car carrier or train for car carrier shall be arranged with at least 2 fire extinguishers, which are in accordance with relevant fire protection requirements and not less than 5kg, and they shall be firmly fixed and convenient for taking and using.
4.4.9 The spare tyre shall be firmly fixed and convenient for assembly and disassembly.
4.5 Process requirements
4.5.1 Welding quality of welding parts shall meet the requirements of JB/T 5943; weld joint shall be flat, smooth, uniform and free from defects such as melting through, missing welding, crack, gas hole and slag. Welding slag shall be completely removed.
4.5.2 The riveting shall be firm in alignment; rivet head shall be free from any crack, deflection and incompletion; the clearance between rivet head and metal contact area shall not be greater than 0.05mm.
4.5.3 All fasteners shall be subjected to rust-proof treatment on the surface and each coupling part shall be firm and reliable.
4.5.4 Lubricating grease filler shall be completely assembled and filled with lubricating grease and other rubbing surfaces shall be coated with lubricating grease according to the requirements.
4.6 Requirements for goods platform
4.6.1 Protective barrier (mesh) shall be arranged on left and right sides of topside goods platform of car carrier, and the height between protective barrier (mesh) top and topside goods platform surface shall not be less than 800mm. At the binding operation position, vertical distance between the uttermost end of protective barrier (mesh) and stamping position of the upper-layer goods platform shall between 500~800mm.
4.6.2 Running passage for loaded vehicle of goods platform for car carrier shall be provided with anti-sliding function. When upper-layer movable goods platform completely falls into its position at no-load status, it shall fit closely with supporting base, however, a clearance not greater than 6mm at one side is permissible.
4.6.3 Transitional springboard connecting goods platform and ground shall be flexibly and reliably retracting and extending, whose width shall not be less than 380mm and the included angle with the ground shall not be greater than 12°.
4.6.4 Each movable part of goods platform shall be of flexible and reliable action, and free from blockage and interference phenomenon.
4.6.5 Car carrier shall be equipped with wheel stopping device to ensure no moving happen to loaded vehicles in case of parking as well as quick and effective clamp device for loaded vehicles; the clamp device should be selected in accordance with tie-down appliances specified in GB/T 31083.
4.6.6 On car carrier, the permissible outline dimension limit of loaded vehicle on each loading position shall be explicitly stated and the safety clearance between loaded vehicles shall be met. The minimum spacing in longitudinal direction between loaded vehicles, and between loaded vehicle and front and back ends of carriage and minimum vertical spacing between loaded vehicle top and upper-layer goods platform or lower end of ceiling all shall not be less than 100mm; the minimum vertical spacing between bottom of loaded vehicle and goods platform upper side shall not be less than 60mm; the minimum horizontal spacing between either side of loaded vehicle and inner side of car carrier shall not be less than 100mm; and the minimum horizontal spacing between either side of loaded vehicle and inner side of chassis wheelcover of car carrier shall not be less than 50mm.
4.6.7 The design of car carrier shall ensure the free access for the loaded vehicle driver.
4.6.8 Goods platform for vehicle parking shall be free from sharp corner and sharp edge which may cause stab or scratch on vehicle tyre.
