Air conditioning for main line rolling stock - Part 2: Type tests
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 33193 specifies the test procedures and measurement methods for the vehicle air-conditioning system in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 33193.1-2016.
This part is applicable to main line railway vehicles that carry passengers, but excludes suburban, metro, tramway vehicles and driving cabs.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 33193.1-2016 apply.
4 Test preparation
It is advised that preliminary tests are carried out to verify the electrical and electronic assemblies, the functional logic of the control system, the air tightness of the air distribution system and the capacity of the air conditioning equipment.
Other equipment shall be in a normal state during the test of air conditioning system.
The test conditions for the compartmented carriages and the open large compartmented carriages in this part shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB/T 12817.
5 Air movement tests
5.1 Static air movement test
5.1.1 Test conditions
The test shall be carried out under the following conditions:
a) parking indoors;
b) altitude < 1500m above sea level;
c) exterior air speed ≤ 4m/s;
d) ambient temperature between 15℃ and 30℃.
5.1.2 Air flow rate
The flow rates below shall be measured in accordance with 9.4:
a) outside fresh air;
b) exhaust air (measured at possible place if appropriate);
c) recirculated air, conditioned air or mixed air.
5.1.3 Pressure differential
This may be shown up by the movement of smoke between the two designated areas, in order to verify that the air conditioning system is well designed to avoid the propagation of odors, especially in catering service areas, smoking areas, toilets and technical areas (e.g. driving cab) of various vehicles.
5.2 Dynamic air movement test
5.2.1 Dynamic air movement measurement
The measurement of air speed and/or pressure during operation may be applied to the following parts:
a) outside fresh air;
b) exhaust air.
The behavior of the cooling system condensate fan should be inspected during dynamic air movement measurement.
These results shall be compared with those taken on a stationary vehicle. The tests may be determined by the supplier and the purchaser through negotiation.
5.2.2 Dynamic tests on pressure protection system
Where pressure wave protection is required (such as a high-speed vehicle) , the vehicle and air conditioning installation shall protect the vehicle from sudden pressure changes.
The dynamic pressure test may be completed in combination with the aerodynamic type test of the vehicle, as determined by the supplier and the purchaser through negotiation.
