Dimension of traction battery
for electric vehicles
1 Scope
This standard specifies the dimension of traction battery for electric vehicles (hereinafter referred to as the battery) in terms of secondary cell, battery module and standard battery case.
This standard is applicable to the lithium ion battery and nickel-metal hydride battery installed on electric vehicles, and also a reference for other types of batteries.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2900. 41 and GB/T 19596 and the following ones apply.
3.1
cylindrical cell
a battery having a cylindrical battery case and connecting elements (electrodes).
3.2
prismatic cell
a battery having a cuboid battery case and connecting elements (electrodes).
3.3
pouch cell
a battery having a composite-film-made battery case and connecting elements (electrodes).
3.4
secondary cell
basic unit device which directly transforms chemical energy into electric energy, usually including electrode, diaphragm, electrolyte, enclosure and terminal and is also designed to be rechargeable. It is also known as battery cell.
3.5
battery module
an assembly composed of two or more aforesaid secondary cells in series connection, parallel connection or their combination and used as power supply. It is also known as battery pack.
3.6
standard battery case
it is applied to electric vehicles, usually including battery modules, battery management modules (excluding battery control units), battery case and energy storage devices of corresponding accessories, which can be applied to different vehicles through different combinations.
4 General requirements for dimension of battery
4.1 Dimensional tolerance requirements
The dimensions of the secondary cell specified in this standard shall be in accordance with the limit deviation of linear dimensions in GB/T 1804, and the precision m grade of tolerance shall be selected.
4.2 Dimension range requirements
In order to make the battery dimensions uniform, an agreement for dimension range is as shown in Table 1. Secondary cell, battery module and standard battery case (Annex A) of the same dimension range share the same specification.
