GB/T 37624 Stationery and sport products and parts - General requirements on volatile organic compounds (VOC), together with GB/T 35456 Stationery and sport products and its parts - Test method for volatile organic compounds (VOC), constitute a series of national standards supporting the management and control of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in stationery and sport products in China.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for volatile organic compounds (VOC) amount in stationery and sport products and parts, as well as the rules for sample preparation (sampling), test methods and rules for arbitration.
This standard is applicable to related stationery and sport products covered by C241 and C244 of Category C (manufacturing) of GB/T 4754-2017, such as balls and equipment in sports equipment, gymnastics equipment, track and field equipment, weightlifting equipment, aquatic (ice and snow) sports equipment, fitness equipment, archery equipment, fencing equipment, martial arts equipment, camping and mountaineering equipment, fishing tackle equipment, sports protection equipment, parts of various sports equipment, as well as rubber and plastic stationery, metal stationery, student stationery, playing cards, painting materials, paper books, office stationery and related stationeries and parts made of various materials and used for various purposes.
This standard is not applicable to inflatable sports balls made of leather and rubber, nor table tennis sports equipment and parts.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

volatile organic compounds; VOC
organic compounds released from samples that can be detected in the outlet gas of the test equipment

total volatile organic compounds; TVOC
sum of organic compounds separated by a non-polar chromatography column (polarity index less than 10) and detected by gas chromatography, with a retention time between n-hexane to n-hexadecane (including n-hexane and n-hexadecane)

4 Classification
According to the category of the people who use stationery and sport products, the stationery and sport products may be divided into two categories: stationery and sport products for adults and those for children.
5 Requirements on VOC limit
5.1 Requirements on VOC emissions
The VOC released from stationery and sport products and parts shall meet the requirement of Table 1. And the formaldehyde released from wood-based panels of stationery and sport products shall meet the relevant requirements of GB 18580.

Note: Volatile chlorohydrocarbon include: dichloromethane, 1,1-dichloroethane, 1,2-dichloroethane, trichloromethane, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,1,2-trichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethylene and other chlorohydrocarbons that meet the definition of volatile organic compounds.
