This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China. This standard is under the jurisdiction of SAC/TC 112 National Technical Committee on Personal Protective Equipment of Standardization Administration of China. Personal fall protection equipment - Descender devices 1 Scope This standard specifies the classification, grading and mark, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking of the descender devices. This standard is applicable to automatic and manually-operated descender devices that are used vertically. This standard is not applicable to descender devices for escape in case of building fire. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 10125 Corrosion tests in artificial atmospheres - Salt spray tests GB/T 23469 Personal fall protection equipment - Connectors GB 24544 Personal fall protection equipment - Retractable type fall arrester GB 30862 Personal fall protection equipment - Anchor devices 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 descender devices device that allows the user to land on the ground from a height at a certain speed by himself or with the assistance of others Notes: 1 Such devices can be divided into automatic descender device and manually-operated descender device. 2 The descender device can be composed of descent line and speed-limiting components.   3.2 automatic descender device descender device that does not require the user to exert artificial interference on the speed-limiting device during descent 3.3 manually-operated descender device descender device with the speed control function realized by the user by manually controlling the speed-limiting device during descent 3.4 panic locking element emergency braking device that forms an integral part of the descender device, used when the speed is out of control or when the descent needs to be stopped 3.5 descent line component connected to the speed-limiting component of the descender device, which is used to determine the direction of descent and bear the descending load during the descent Note: It is made of fiber rope, webbing or steel wire rope. 3.6 descent energy in unit of joule, marked by W, and related to the descent load, gravity acceleration, single descent height and number of descents, with the calculation equation as Equation (1): W=m×g×h×n (1) where, W——the descent energy, J; m——the descent load (including the total mass of personnel and tools and equipment they carry), kg; g——the gravity acceleration, 9.81 m/s2; h——the single descent height, m; n——the number of descents.   3.7 minimum rated load minimum mass provided by the manufacturer, with which the descender device can be started Note: Include the total mass of personnel and tools and equipment they carry, with a unit of kilogram (kg). 3.8 maximum rated load maximum mass that can be carried by the descender device under normal working conditions, as provided by the manufacturer Note: Include the total mass of personnel and tools and equipment they carry, with a unit of kilogram (kg). 3.9 minimum breaking strength; MBS calculated value obtained by subtracting three times the standard deviation from the average value of the values from breaking strength tests Note: It is expressed in kN. 3.10 elongation percentage of the ratio of the elongation value of the descent line when tested under specified conditions to the original length 3.11 mandatory deadline maximum period that the product can be stored under the storage conditions specified by the manufacturer from the date of production Note: After this period, it is recommended that the product, whether used or not, be rejected, and it is recommended that the longest mandatory deadline be no more than 10 years. 4 Classification, grading and mark 4.1 Classification of descender devices The automatic descender device is Type I descender device, and manually-operated descender device is Type II descender device.   4.2 Descender device grading The descender devices are divided into the following grades by descent energy: ——Grade A: descent energy (W) ≥ 7.5 × 106J; ——Grade B: descent energy (W) ≥ 1.5 × 106J; ——Grade C: descent energy (W) ≥ 0.5 × 106J; ——Grade D: for single use only, with the descent energy dependent on maximum descent height and maximum rated load. 4.3 Mark of descender device The mark of the descender device consists of "class and grade (minimum rated load ~ maximum rated load)-single maximum descent height/number of descents". Example: The model of Grade A manually-operated descender device with a maximum rated load of 200 kg, a minimum rated load of 30 kg and a single maximum descent height of 100 m, which can be used for 50 times, shall be marked as "II A (30 ~ 200) kg-100 m/50 times". 5 Technical requirements 5.1 General requirements 5.1.1 Design structure 5.1.1.1 The component of the descender device that comes into contact with the operating personnel's body shall be made of material that will not irritate the skin or cause skin allergy. 5.1.1.2 The material of the descender device shall have a smooth surface, without sharp edges and corners, and the descender device shall not cause harm to the descent line or users when in use. 5.1.1.3 The maximum rated load of the descender device shall not be less than 100kg. 5.1.1.4 If manual removal of the descent line for the descender device is allowed, it shall be ensured that the descent line does not detached from the descender device during use, and the completion of removal process requires at least two clear actions.
