本标准适用于50℃时运动粘度等于或小于50mm2/s。的绝缘油中非酸性气体含量的测试，不适用于可与氢氧化钾溶液发生化学反应的酸性气体(如二氧化碳等)含量的测试。
本试验方法主要用于注人新设备的油及作为补充用的经真空过滤的油的控制试验项目。对正在运行的变压器油中含气量的测试，要注意溶解在油中的二氧化碳气体所引起的误差。
