1 Scope This standard specifies the determination method of peracetic acid content in peracetic acid solution. This standard is applicable to determination of peracetic acid content in peracetic acid solution generated by reaction of hydrogen peroxide with acetic acid. 2 Normative References The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. GB/T 601 Chemical Reagent - Preparations of Standard Volumetric Solutions GB/T 603 Chemical Reagent - Preparations of Reagent Solutions for Use in Test Methods GB/T 6682 Water for Analytical Laboratory Use - Specification and Test Methods (GB/T 6682-1992, eqv ISO 3696: 1987) 3 Method Summary Under acidic conditions, titrate the hydrogen peroxide in sample with potassium permanganate standard volumetric solution, and then calculate the content of hydrogen peroxide; determine the content of all peroxides (peroxyacetic acid and hydrogen peroxide) in sample with indirect iodometry, and then deduct the amount of hydrogen peroxide to obtain the content of peroxyacetic acid. The reaction formulas are as follows:
