Drawing Rules and Standard Detailing Drawings of Ichnographic Representing Method for Construction Drawings of R.C. Structures (Spread Footings, Strip Foundations, Raft Foundations and Pile Foundations)
1. This drawing collection is based on the MOHURD document JIANZHIHAN [2016] No.89 Notification of Distributing the Working Plan of Compiling the National Standard Design for Buildings in 2016.
2. This drawing collection is the national building standard design drawing collection for construction drawings of R.C. structures using ichnographic representing method (IRM).
Ichnographic representing, in general, is to show dimensions and reinforcement details of structural members directly in the structural plan layout according to rules of IRM. A completed set of structural construction drawings shall include both IRM drawings and standard detailing drawings.

4. There are two parts in this drawing collection: drawing rules of IRM, and standard detailing drawings of commonly used spread footings, strip foundations, raft foundations (ribbed and slab) and pile foundations made of cast-in-situ concrete.
5. This drawing collection is applicable to the construction drawing design of all kinds of cast-in-situ concrete spread footings, strip foundations, raft foundations (ribbed and slab) and pile foundations.
6. The rules specified in this drawing collection can be used for designers to generate ichnographic construction drawings or can be used as reference for contractors and inspectors to understand and use ichnographic construction drawings correctly.
7. Details and other items which are not included in this drawing collection should be worked out by designers.
8. If modifications of the standard detailing drawings in this drawing collection are required for certain projects, designers should provide specific modified contents.

1 General Provisions
1.1.1 Setting the rules of IRM is to standardize the use of IRM in structural construction drawings of buildings, to uniform the format of construction drawings carried out by IRM, and to ensure the quality of design and construction.
1.1.2 The rules in this drawing collection are applicable to the structural construction drawing design of all types of cast-in-situ concrete foundations, e.g. spread footings, strip foundations, raft foundations and pile foundations-
1.1.3 Apart from the rules of IRM in this drawing collection, other updated national standards shall also be complied with.
1.1.4 Construction drawings carried out in accordance with IRM usually consist of two main parts: ichnographic construction drawings and standard detailing drawings. However, for complicated industrial and civil buildings, other detail information, such as plan layout and details of formworks, openings and embedded parts, is also required.
1.1.5 When structural construction drawings are carried out using IRM, according to the design of specific projects, dimensions and reinforcement details of structural members shown in the plan layout shall comply with the relevant rules of IRM. When construction drawings are prepared, the full set of construction drawings should be arranged in the order of foundations, columns, shear walls, beams, slabs, stairs and other members.
1.1.6 For construction drawings of cast-in-situ concrete spread footings, strip foundations, raft foundations and pile foundations which are carried out in accordance with IRM, dimensions and reinforcement details of foundations shall be mainly described by ichnographic annotation, and sectional annotation is a supplementary
method for better description.
1.1.7 When ichnographic construction drawings are prepared, every structural member should be numbered, which includes the type code and serial number of the member. The type code is to indicate relevant standard detailing drawings. Standard detailing drawings are noted with the type code of members to show the complementary relationship between the detailing drawings and corresponding types of members in ichnographic construction drawings. A completed set of structural design drawings shall include both ichnographic construction drawings and standard detailing drawings.
1.1.8 For ichnographic construction drawings of foundation, the reference elevation of the base of foundation and absolute elevation
±0.000 should be noted in tables or by other methods.
This drawing collection should be used in conjunction with drawing collections of national building standard design 16G101-1 and 16G101-2. Structural floor level shall be coordinated with structural story height in the same project in order to set the vertical position of foundations, columns, walls, beams, slabs, stairs, etc.
Notes:
1. Structural floor level is the floor level shown in architectural drawings excluding the thickness of floor finishing and cushion layers. The floor number in structural drawings shall be consistent with that in architectural drawings.
2. For a given project, if there is only one foundation level, the reference elevation of the base of foundation is the elevation of foundation. If there are different base elevations of foundation, the reference elevation should be the elevation of majority ones, elevations and regions of foundations with different elevations should be noted in drawings.
