1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard provides the basic human dimensions of Chinese adults according to the requirements of ergonomics and is applicable to industrial products, architectural design, military industry as well as industrial technological transformation, equipment renewal and labor safety protection.
The dimensions listed in this standard represents legal Chinese adults engaged in industrial production (18~60 years old for male and 18~55 years old for female).

3 Precautions for the Application of Human Dimensions
For the application of human dimensions listed in this standard, the following points shall be paid attention to:
3.1 Since the values given in the tables are measured nakedly, where they applied in design, proper allowance shall be increased according to the dressing of people in different regions throughout China.
3.2 During measurement, the measured is required to stand or sit upright naturally. For the design of other poses (such as sitting relaxed), proper correction shall be made.
3.3 Considering the big difference of human dimensions in different regions, China is divided into six regions, including Northeast China, North China, Northwest China, Southeast China, Central China, South China and Southwest China.
Note: such division is based on partial body measurement data, such as from physical examination of conscripts.
Northeast China and North China: Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
Northwest China: Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Tibet, Ningxia, Henan and Xinjiang.
Southeast China: Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang.
Central China: Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi.
South China: Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian.
Southwest China: Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan.
Appendix A may be referred to where relevant data is used.
4 Human Dimensions and Positions
In this standard, a total of 47 basic human dimensions are listed by three age groups for male and female respectively, including 18~25 years old (male and female), 26~35 years old (male and female), 36~60 years old (male) and 36~55 years old (female). Their positions are detailed in 7 figures, with appropriate percentages given in tables.
