1 Scope
This standard specifies general safety technical requirements of every kind of spraying booth in painting process.
This standard is applicable to design, manufacture, installation, inspection, application, maintenance and supervision and administration of the flammable or combustible paint spraying booth. It also may be a reference to the spraying booth with water-based paint.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions in GB/T 14441-1993 together with the following additions apply.
3.1 Spray booth
It refers to an entirely closed or semi-closed room or building envelope with good mechanical ventilation and lighting equipment and dedicated for spraying paints. The air flow composition in the room is able to prevent painting fog, and solvent vapour dissipating outward and lead them to the air exhaust system intensively and safely.
3.2 Spray room
It refers to a totally closed construction with forced draught and dedicated for painting operation. The whole spray room is a part of painting area.
The spray room is different from the spraying booth.
3.3 Painting area
It refers to the area where due to the painting operation, a hazardous volumes of flammable vapor, painting fog, dust exist and flammable survivor is accumulated.
3.4 Flash-off area
It refers to an open or closed area after the painting operation where the paint film is uniform and releases the solvent vapour.
3.5 Control speed of flow
It refers to the average speed of flow of the section vertical to the main flow in the height of the breathing zone of the operating personnel.
3.6 Irregular flow
It refers to all flow affecting control speed of flow.
3.7 Overspray
It refers to the phenomenon that the painting fog fails to spray on the objects during the spraying.
3.8 Spray booth, dry type
It refers to a spraying booth which shall use such mechanism as impact, fiber filtration or electrostatic interaction to remove the overspray object in the air exhaust flow.
3.9 Spray booth, wet type
It refers to a spraying booth which shall use water or other liquid medium to remove the overspray object in the air exhaust flow.
