1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, performance requirements and test methods of the plates and labels used on road vehicles for stating the vehicle information.
This standard is applicable to various types of plates and labels used on road vehicles for stating vehicle manufacture information, warning information, operating and indicating information.
This standard is not applicable to the vehicle identifications directly formed by means of punching, etching, casting, spraying or printing on the vehicle or its component body or sewing on component body.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
plate
marker of a rigid structure with vehicle information, which is installed at vehicle through riveting, welding, tape sticking, etc. and classified into metal plate and nonmetal plate
3.2
label
marker of a flexible structure with vehicle information, which is installed at vehicle through sticking and classified by application position into engine compartment label, exposed exterior label, non-exposed exterior label, exposed interior label, non-exposed interior label and engine/transmission label
3.2.1
engine compartment labels (A type)
labels which are located in engine compartment and stuck on the part beyond engine body
Note: for example, the labels stuck on sprayed sheet metal part, plastic decorative cover, accumulator or vessel in engine compartment.
3.2.2
exposed exterior labels (B type)
labels located at outside of engine body, with their positions visible
Note: for example, the label for trailer hitch, luggage rack or ski rack load.
3.2.3
non-exposed exterior labels (C type)
labels located at the junction part of vehicle body moving components and visible only after opening the moving components
Note: for example, the label stuck on or inside the doorpost or on tank filler cover, etc.

4 Performance requirements of plates and labels
4.1 Performance requirements of plates
The adhesive force of coating, light fastness of color, abrasion resistance, salt mist resistance, heat and humidity resistance and fungus resistance of plate shall be in accordance with the relevant requirements of GB/T 13306.
4.2 Performance requirements for tape sticking of plates
4.2.1 Peeling strength
The peeling strength performance of tape may be evaluated according to either 180° peeling strength or 90° peeling strength.
Requirements for peeling strength under different working conditions are:
a) Peeling strength for initial sticking
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 0.5N/mm and 0.4N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.3 is carried out.
b) Peeling strength under standard environment
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 1N/mm and 0.8N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.4 is carried out.
c) Peeling strength under high temperature
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 0.4N/mm and 0.3N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.5 is carried out.
d) Peeling strength after heat ageing
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 0.8N/mm and 0.8N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.6 is carried out.
e) Peeling strength after ageing in warm water
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 0.8N/mm and 0.8N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.7 is carried out.
f) Peeling strength after cycling ageing
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 1N/mm and 0.8N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.8 is carried out.
g) Peeling strength after humidity ageing
180°and 90°peeling strength shall be larger than or equal to 0.8N/mm and 0.8N/mm respectively after the test specified in 5.2.3.9 is carried out.
4.2.2 Drawing force performance
The drawing force shall be larger than or equal to 125N after the test specified in 5.2.4 is carried out.
4.2.3 Dynamic shear strength
4.2.3.1 Dynamic shear strength for initial sticking
Dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.2N/mm2 after the test specified in Item a) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.2 Dynamic shear strength under standard environment
The dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.3N/mm2 after the test specified in Item b) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.3 Dynamic shear strength under high temperature
The dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.2N/mm2 after the test specified in Item c) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.4 Dynamic shear strength after heat ageing
Dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.4N/mm2 after the test specified in Item d) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.5 Dynamic shear strength after ageing in warm water
The dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.3N/mm2 after the test specified in Item e) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.6 Dynamic shear strength after cycle ageing
The dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.3N/mm2 after the test specified in Item f) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.3.7 Dynamic shear strength after ageing of windshield detergent
The dynamic shear strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.4N/mm2 after the test specified in Item g) of 5.2.5 is carried out.
4.2.4 Static shear strength
The static retention time shall be greater than or equal to 10,000min after the test specified in 5.2.6 is carried out.
4.3 General performance requirements for labels
4.3.1 180°peel strength
The 180°peel strength shall be greater than or equal to 0.44N/mm after the test specified in 5.3.2 is carried out.
4.3.2 Resistance to abrasion
After the test specified in 5.3.3, the label shall be intact without debonding, damage, or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.3 Resistance to liquids
After the test specified in 5.3.4, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.4 Moisture-proof performance
After the test specified in 5.3.5, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.5 Heat cycle performance
After the test specified in 5.3.6.1, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.6 Heat ageing performance
After the test specified in 5.3.7, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.7 Color fastness
After the test specified in 5.3.8, the color difference of label shall at least reach Grade 4 on the grey scale specified in GB/T 250.
4.3.8 Artificial weathering resistance
After the test specified in 5.3.9, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.9 High pressure cleaning resistance
After the test specified in 5.3.10, the label shall be intact without debonding or any change in surface color (compared with the sample before test); the information on the label shall be legible and identifiable; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.3.10 Hot shear bond strength
After the test specified in 5.3.11, the displacement of the label shall not exceed 5mm and the letters or characters on the label shall not be distorted; the bar code on label, if any, shall be readable.
4.4 Additional requirements for special-purpose labels
4.4.1 Anti-tamper performance
4.4.1.1 Removal of the label:
4.4.1.1.1 The labels shall be self-destructed by tearing it up or making the information on label illegible. After the test specified in 5.3.12, the label shall be broken and unable to be removed completely, or in the case that it is not broken, there shall be a significant change (such as cracking and deformation) in its appearance, making the information incomplete.
4.4.1.1.2 After the removal of the labels on the painted surface, the appearance of the position where the label was once pasted shall have an identifiable change, so that the examiner can trace the evidence of the original label in the paste area. If it is achieved by means of fluorescence, a fluorescent mark shall be left after the label is removed
4.4.1.2 After the information on label is changed, the trace of the original information shall be left or the appearance of label shall be changed obviously.
4.4.2 Anti-counterfeiting performance
4.4.2.1 Labels shall be protected from counterfeiting.
4.4.2.2 Label material shall include the manufacturer identification or other unique identifications, and the modification or elimination of the identification shall cause a recognizable change to the label appearance.

4.1 Performance requirements of plates
