3 Technical requirements
3.1 According to the purpose of rolls and the order drawings confirmed by the supplier and the buyer, they are manufactured according to this standard. Technical requirements other than this standard are determined through consultation between the supplier and the buyer.
3.2 Chemical composition and surface hardness shall be as specified in Table 1.
3.3 Uniformity of surface hardness of roll body: as for work roll for board belted steel, it is no greater than 4HSD, for roll for other purposes, it is no greater than 5HSD.
3.4 The thickness of the outer layer of the composite roll shall be 5 mm greater than that of the working layer.
3.5 The tensile strength shall meet the requirements of the contract, which may be executed with reference to Annex A.
3.6 Surface quality
3.6.1 There shall be no visually visible manufacturing defects on the working face of roll body. Manufacturing defects (in other positions) that do not affect the use shall be repaired to meet the drawing requirements confirmed by the parties.
3.6.2 Flat-roll-delivered rolls, if their defects are in the pass positions and can be removed, may be delivered after negotiation by the supplier and the buyer.
3.7 Machining
3.7.1 It shall meet the requirements of roll order drawing confirmed by the supplier and the buyer.
3.7.2 Center hole: If the diameter of roller body is less than 550 mm, the center hole is recommended to be 60°Type B , which is executed according to GB/T 145; for rolls with other specifications, the center hole is recommended to be 75° Type B, which shall be executed as specified in Figure 1 and Table 2.
3.7.3 Table 3 is recommended for dimensional tolerance off roll body diameter, and geometric tolerance and surface roughness of roll body. If the machining accuracy is not noted in the drawing, the total length of the roll shall be Grade c in GB/T 1804, and that of the rest shall be Grade m.
