1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard specifies the parking braking performance requirements of right three-wheeled motorcycle and motorcycle with sidecar and the parking performance requirements of strut and standing support for two-wheeled motorcycles and mopeds.
This standard is applicable to various motorcycles except off-road racing (hereafter referred to as motorcycles).
2 Normative References
GB/T 15364 Motorcycle and Moped Parking Performance Test Method
GB/T 15028.1 Motorcycles - Terminology of Controllability and Stability - Basic Principles of Axis Systems and Kinematies
3 Terms
3.1 parking
the vehicle is stayed at certain position in specified mode
3.2 parking surface
the solid and flat surface which supports wheels, strut or standing support during the motorcycle parking
3.3 support contact area
the contact area between strut or standing support end and parking surface during the motorcycle parking
3.4 strut
the retractable device that provides the third support contact area with the parking surface during the vehicle parking
3.5 standing support
the retractable device that is installed between the front and rear wheels of the motorcycle to provide at least one support contact area with the parking surface on each side of the longitudinal center plane of vehicle during parking
3.6 specific pressure
the average positive pressure on the unit projection area of the support contact area during motorcycle parking
3.7 vehicle axis system
see 3.2 in GB/T 15028.1 for this axis system
3.8 side roll angle
the included angle between the parking surface and the horizontal surface in such a critical state from the rotation of the vehicle around the axis parallel to X axis to the start of roll or slip due to leftward (or rightward) inclination of the parking surface where the two-wheeled motorcycle is parked with the strut or standing support
3.9 front roll angle
the included angle between the parking surface and the horizontal surface in such a critical state that the motorcycle is not supported at fixed position caused by the rotation of the vehicle around the axis parallel to Y axis to the slip start or automatic retraction of parking device due to forward inclination of the parking surface where the two-wheeled motorcycle is parked with the strut or standing support
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Structural requirements
4.1.1 Parking braking device
4.1.1.1 The parking braking device of the motorcycle shall be convenient in the controllability so that the parking braking operation shall be able to be performed where the driver holds the handlebar or steering wheel with one hand on his/her seat.
4.1.1.2 The motorcycle shall be reliable in the parking braking and shall not fail in parking due to the departure of the driver, long parking time, depletion of braking energy, etc.
4.1.1.3 The parking brake shall be provided with control gear and transmission gear independent of service brake; if the same control gear and transmission gear as those for service brake are adopted, independent control gear must be provided so that the brake is kept in braking state.
4.1.1.4 Release of parking brake at least requires two independent actions and the parking brake shall not be released due to accidental or incorrect operation.
4.1.2 Strut and standing support
4.1.2.1 The two-wheeled motorcycle shall be convenient in the controllability of the strut and standing support; where it is parked with the strut, the driver shall be able to realize parking by controlling the strut with one foot under the premise of remaining in his/her seat and keeping the vehicle stability; where it is parked with the standing support, the driver himself/herself shall be able to support the motorcycle by controlling the standing support. During release of the vehicle parking, the driver shall hold the handlebar to push the vehicle forward and the parking device shall be able to be retracted to the original position by means of return spring and shall not fall down due to vibration in the running; however, it is allowed to help the retraction by means of the driver's footwork.
