GB/T 38472-2019 Recycling materials for cast aluminium alloys
1. Scope
This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging, transport, storage, quality certificates and purchase orders (or contracts) of recycling materials for cast aluminium alloys.
This standard applies to the recycling materials for cast aluminium alloys (herein after referred to as raw materials) obtained after sorting and processing of recycled aluminum from waste vehicles, aluminum appliances, and mechanical equipment.
2. Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3. Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 8005.1 and the following apply.
3.1
recycling materials for cast aluminium alloys
after the recovered cast aluminum alloy or mixed metal containing aluminum is processed by sorting, etc., raw materials that can be used to produce cast aluminum alloy ingots or products that meet the relevant requirements of this standard are obtained
3.2
foreign material
non-metallic substances doped or attached to raw materials
Note: Including dust, wood, textiles, plastics, glass, stone, paper, sand, rubber, sludge, etc., excluding the packaging of this product and other substances that need to be used during transportation.
3.3
volatile substanc
impurities that can be separated from the raw materials after proper heating treatment at a temperature lower than the melting point of the metal
3.4
aluminium and aluminium alloy content
the mass fraction of aluminum materials that can be picked out of the raw materials
3.5
total metal content
the mass fraction of metal materials that can be picked out of the raw materials
Note: Metal materials mainly include aluminum, silicon, copper, magnesium, zinc, etc.
3.6
metal recovery rate
the mass fraction of metal materials produced after raw materials are pretreated and smelted according to the methods specified in this standard
4. Classification
Raw materials can be divided into three types: castings, recycled aluminum ingots, and aluminum blocks. The description and source of the raw materials are shown in Table 1, and the typical photos of the raw materials are shown in Appendix A.

5. Requirements
5.1 Appearance quality
5.1.1 castings and aluminum blocks shall not be mixed with obvious foreign materials.
5.1.2 The surface of recycled aluminum ingots shall be clean and without serious flashes or pores.
5.2 Dimension
5.2.1 The dimensions and specifications of castings and recycled aluminum ingots shall be determined by the supplier and the demander through consultation, and shall be indicated in the purchase order (or contract).
5.2.2 Aluminium blocks are divided into large, medium and small blocks according to their dimension ,and shall meet the requirements of Table 2.
