GB/T 5359 consists of four parts under the general title Term for motorcycles and mopeds
——Part 1: Types of vehicles;
——Part 2: Performance of vehicles;
——Part 3: Dimensions of vehicle with two and three wheels;
——Part 4: Mass of vehicle with two and three wheels.
This is Part 1 of GB/T 5359.
This part is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 5359.1-2008 Term for motorcycles and mopeds - Part 1: Types of vehicles.
The following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 5359.1-2008:
——Definitions of motorcycle and moped are modified (see 2.1 and 2.2; 2.1.1 and 2.2.1 of Edition 2008);
——Definitions are added as to plug-in hybrid electric motorcycle, plug-in hybrid electric moped, extended-range hybrid electric motorcycle and extended-range hybrid electric moped (see 2.1.2.1, 2.2.2.1, 2.1. 2.2 and 2.2.2.2);
——Definition of twinned wheels is added (see 2.3);
——“Clause 3 Types of vehicles” is added;
——“Annex A Reference table for types of vehicles” is added.

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 5359 defines the terms and definitions for types of vehicles of motorcycles and mopeds.
This part is applicable to motorcycles and mopeds.
2 Terms of types
2.1
motorcycle
road vehicles with two or three wheels driven by a power unit, with a maximum design speed of more than 50 km/h or that meets one of the following conditions:
——Its displacement is greater than 50 mL if an internal combustion engine is used;
——The maximum continuous rated power of its motor is greater than 4 kW if it is driven by electricity.
However, the following types are not included:
Motor wheelchairs dedicated for disabled people, of which the maximum design vehicle speed, complete vehicle kerb mass, and overall dimensions are in line with relevant national standards and regulations
