1 Scope
This standard specifies the conditions and detailed analysis procedures to determine textile fiber content with physical analysis method (including microscope determination and manual splitting method).
This standard is applicable to the quantitative analysis of fiber content of blended, mixed and interwoven textile products and loose fiber raw materials that can be manually split or unsuitable for chemical analysis methods. It is not applicable to special animal fiber blended products.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this standard, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the latest editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document applies.
GB/T 8170 Rules of Rounding-off for Numerical Values
GB/T 9994 Conventional Moisture Regains of Textiles

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
round lateral section
the lateral section of the fiber in the shape of a circle or approximate to a circle, with the lateral section area of the fiber calculated by measuring the diameter so as to work out the volume
3.2
non-round lateral section
the lateral section of the fiber in noncircular, polygonal or irregular shape, with the lateral section area of the fiber measured by scanning or other means so as to work out the volume
