1 Scope
This part of GB 5135 specifies the terms and definitions, classification and code, models, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage of deluge alarm valves.
This part is applicable to the deluge alarm valves for automatic sprinkler systems.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
deluge alarm valve
a kind of control valve that is opened by electric, mechanical, pneumatic or other means to allow water to flow into the sprinkler system in a single direction automatically and alarms at the same time
3.2
ready condition; set condition
condition that the sealing assembly of deluge alarm valve installed in the piping system is in the closed position, the water supply side of the valve is filled with constant-pressure water, and no water flows out from the deluge alarm valve system side
3.3
anti-reseat latch
latching mechanism that prevents the sealing assembly from returning to its closed position after operation
3.4
trip point
action point at which the deluge alarm valve operates, admitting water into the automatic sprinkler system, which is expressed by the system side, water supply side or auxiliary pressure
3.5
priming water
water used to seal a sealing assembly and prevent cementation of working parts
3.6
wet pilot line
pipeline fitted with heat responsive devices, usually automatic sprinklers, which, when subjected to heat from a fire, operate to release pressure from the piping system causing the automatic operation of a deluge alarm valve
3.7
pressure-reducing deluge valve
type of deluge alarm valve that is ensured to be closed in the ready condition by the pressurization of its piston chamber or diaphragm chamber, and is opened by electric, pneumatic or mechanical startup modes causing the pressure releasing of piston chamber or diaphragm chamber

pressure-operated deluge valve
type of deluge alarm valve that maintains its sealing assembly closed by a spring and the inlet water pressure in the ready condition, with the piston chamber or diaphragm chamber unpressurized, and is opened by electric, pneumatic or mechanical startup modes causing bearing area difference when the pressure water on the water supply side enters into piston chamber and diaphragm chamber

4 Classification and code
4.1 Deluge alarm valves may be classified into the following types according to their structural forms:
a) Push-rod type, the code of which is "G";
b) Diaphragm type, the code of which is "M";
c) Piston type, the code of which is "S";
d) Butterfly valve type, the code of which is "D";
e) Temperature sensitive type, the code of which is "W".
4.2 Deluge alarm valves may be classified into the following types according to their startup modes:
a) Pressure-operated type, the code of which is "J";
b) Pressure-reducing type, the code of which is omitted.
5 Models
The model of deluge alarm valve is composed of product code, structural form code, nominal diameter, rated working pressure, startup mode code, type characteristic code, etc. in turn, and the compilation style is as follows:
Example 1:
ZSFG 100-1.2 C1 means Type C1 push-rod deluge alarm valve with pressure-reducing startup mode and with a rated working pressure of 1.2MPa and a nominal diameter of 100mm.
Example 2:
ZSFS 150-1.6 JXSW means Type XSW piston deluge alarm valve with pressure-operated startup mode and with a rated working pressure of 1.6MPa and a nominal diameter of 150mm.
6 Requirements
6.1 Appearance and signs
6.1.1 The deluge alarm valve shall have a smooth and clean surface, no processing defects and scratches, and uniform coating with perfect color.
6.1.2 The deluge alarm valve shall be provided with a permanent nameplate on the outer surface. The content of the nameplate shall be clear and meet the requirements of 9.1.
6.2 Specifications
The nominal inlet and outlet diameters of deluge alarm valves are 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 80mm, 100mm, 125mm, 150mm, 200mm, 250mm and 300mm.
The diameter at the seat ring may be smaller than the nominal diameter.
6.3 Rated working pressure
The rated working pressure of deluge alarm valves shall not be lower than 1.2MPa.
6.4 Corrosion resistance of materials
6.4.1 The valve body and bonnet shall be made of materials with corrosion resistance not lower than that of cast iron, and the corrosion resistance of valve seat materials shall not be lower than that of bronze.
6.4.2 If the valve seat of diaphragm deluge alarm valve is made of materials with corrosion resistance lower than that of bronze, the surface of the valve seat shall be subjected to anti-corrosion treatment, and be tested according to the requirements of 7.4, and shall meet the requirements of 6.12 and 6.15 after the test.
6.4.3 The metal parts requiring rotation or sliding shall be made of corrosion-resistant materials such as bronze, nickel-copper alloy, brass and austenitic stainless steel. If they are made of materials with poor corrosion resistance, the bushing made of the above-mentioned corrosion-resistant material shall be added where there is relative movement.
6.5 Valve body and bonnet
6.5.1 The dimensions of the joints on valve body and bonnet shall meet the corresponding requirements of GB/T 17241.6 or GB/T 9112 and GB/T 3287.
6.5.2 Except for the temperature-sensitive deluge valve, the valve body shall be provided with a water outlet with a minimum nominal diameter of 20mm.
6.5.3 Except for the temperature-sensitive deluge valve, the water supply side of the valve sealing assembly shall be provided with facilities for testing the alarm device without opening the valve.
6.6 Parts and components
6.6.1 The spring and diaphragm shall be able to withstand the normal working cycle specified in 7.2 for 5,000 times without fracture or damage.
6.6.2 If the sealing assembly needs to be sealed with priming water, a device for adding priming water and a measure to check the priming water level shall be provided.
6.6.3 The nominal diameter of pipe fittings for the deluge alarm valve shall not be less than 15mm.
6.6.4 The solenoid valve of deluge alarm valve shall be equipped with a filter device in front of the inlet end.
6.6.5 The heat responsive elements for temperature-sensitive deluge valve shall meet the requirements of GB 5135.1.
6.7 Clearance (applicable to push-rod deluge alarm valve)
6.7.1 As shown in Figure 1a), when the valve body is made of cast iron, the radial clearance between the sealing assembly and the inner wall of the valve body shall not be less than 12mm except for the fully open position; when the valve body and sealing assembly are made of non-ferrous metal, stainless steel or materials with equivalent physical, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, the radial clearance shall not be less than 6mm.
6.7.2 As shown in Figure 1b), when the valve is in the closed position, the diametrical clearance between the metal pressure plate in the sealing assembly and the inner edge of the valve seat shall not be less than 6mm.
6.7.3 The depth of annular space of valve seat shall not be less than 3mm.

6.8 Connection methods
6.8.1 When the deluge alarm valve is of flanged connection, the flange connection size and the flange sealing surface type and size shall meet the requirements of GB/T 9112 or GB/T 17241.6.
6.8.2 When the deluge alarm valve is of grooved connection, its connection size shall meet the requirements of GB 5135.11.
6.9 Rigid non-metallic parts
6.9.1 The rigid non-metallic parts shall be subjected to aging test according to the requirements of 7.3 and 7.4, and shall be free from distortion, creep, crack or other deformation damages that hinder the normal operation of the device after the test.
6.9.2 The deluge alarm valve assembled with the parts that have passed aging test shall meet the requirements of 6.13 and 6.15 when subjected to leakage and function test according 7.8 and 7.10.
6.10 Rubber seals
The rubber seals shall be tested according to the method specified in 7.5, and the test results shall meet the requirements of GB/T 21873-2008, 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 4.2.5.2, 4.2.6 and 4.2.8.
6.11 Solenoid valve
The solenoid valve shall be tested according to the method specified in 7.6, and the test results shall meet the requirements of GB 5135.6.
6.12 Valve body strength
The assembled deluge alarm valve, with its sealing assembly in the open position, shall be tested according to the requirements of 7.7, and shall be able to withstand the hydrostatic pressure which is 4 times the rated working pressure for 5min, after which, the valve body shall be free from leakage, permanent deformation and damage.
6.13 Leakage and deformation
6.13.1 The deluge alarm valve, with its sealing assembly in the open position, shall be tested according to the requirements of 7.8.1, and shall be able to withstand the hydrostatic pressure which is twice the rated working pressure for 5min, after which, it shall be free from leakage, permanent deformation and damage and shall also meet the requirements of 6.15.

6 Requirements
6.1 Appearance and signs

6.4.3 The metal parts requiring rotation or sliding shall be made of corrosion-resistant materials such as bronze, nickel-copper alloy, brass and austenitic stainless steel. If they are made of materials with poor corrosion resistance, the bushing made of the above-mentioned corrosion-resistant material shall be added where there is relative movement.
6.5 Valve body and bonnet
6.5.1 The dimensions of the joints on valve body and bonnet shall meet the corresponding requirements of GB/T 17241.6 or GB/T 9112 and GB/T 3287.
6.5.2 Except for the temperature-sensitive deluge valve, the valve body shall be provided with a water outlet with a minimum nominal diameter of 20mm.
6.5.3 Except for the temperature-sensitive deluge valve, the water supply side of the valve sealing assembly shall be provided with facilities for testing the alarm device without opening the valve.
6.6 Parts and components
6.6.1 The spring and diaphragm shall be able to withstand the normal working cycle specified in 7.2 for 5,000 times without fracture or damage.
6.6.2 If the sealing assembly needs to be sealed with priming water, a device for adding priming water and a measure to check the priming water level shall be provided.
6.6.3 The nominal diameter of pipe fittings for the deluge alarm valve shall not be less than 15mm.

6.7 Clearance (applicable to push-rod deluge alarm valve)
6.7.1 As shown in Figure 1a), when the valve body is made of cast iron, the radial clearance between the sealing assembly and the inner wall of the valve body shall not be less than 12mm except for the fully open position; when the valve body and sealing assembly are made of non-ferrous metal, stainless steel or materials with equivalent physical, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, the radial clearance shall not be less than 6mm.
6.7.2 As shown in Figure 1b), when the valve is in the closed position, the diametrical clearance between the metal pressure plate in the sealing assembly and the inner edge of the valve seat shall not be less than 6mm.
6.7.3 The depth of annular space of valve seat shall not be less than 3mm.

6.8 Connection methods
6.8.1 When the deluge alarm valve is of flanged connection, the flange connection size and the flange sealing surface type and size shall meet the requirements of GB/T 9112 or GB/T 17241.6.
6.8.2 When the deluge alarm valve is of grooved connection, its connection size shall meet the requirements of GB 5135.11.
6.9 Rigid non-metallic parts
6.9.1 The rigid non-metallic parts shall be subjected to aging test according to the requirements of 7.3 and 7.4, and shall be free from distortion, creep, crack or other deformation damages that hinder the normal operation of the device after the test.
6.9.2 The deluge alarm valve assembled with the parts that have passed aging test shall meet the requirements of 6.13 and 6.15 when subjected to leakage and function test according 7.8 and 7.10.
6.10 Rubber seals
The rubber seals shall be tested according to the method specified in 7.5, and the test results shall meet the requirements of GB/T 21873-2008, 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 4.2.5.2, 4.2.6 and 4.2.8.
6.11 Solenoid valve
The solenoid valve shall be tested according to the method specified in 7.6, and the test results shall meet the requirements of GB 5135.6.
6.12 Valve body strength
The assembled deluge alarm valve, with its sealing assembly in the open position, shall be tested according to the requirements of 7.7, and shall be able to withstand the hydrostatic pressure which is 4 times the rated working pressure for 5min, after which, the valve body shall be free from leakage, permanent deformation and damage.
6.13 Leakage and deformation
6.13.1 The deluge alarm valve, with its sealing assembly in the open position, shall be tested according to the requirements of 7.8.1, and shall be able to withstand the hydrostatic pressure which is twice the rated working pressure for 5min, after which, it shall be free from leakage, permanent deformation and damage and shall also meet the requirements of 6.15.
