Methods for chemical analysis of iron, steel and alloy--The sodium carbonate separation-diphenyl carbazide photometric method for the determination of chromium content
1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard specifies the determination of chromium content with sodium carbonate separation-diphenyl carbazide photometric method.
This standard is applicable to the determination of chromium content in carbon steel, low alloy steel and precious alloy. Determination range: 0.005%~0.500%.
2 Method Summary
Oxidize potassium permanganate in sulphuric acid solution to hexavalence; hexavalent chromium and diphenyl carbazide generate claret complex compound, and measure the absorbance. Deposit and separate the coexisting element such as iron with sodium carbonate in advance.
When coexisting 400mg iron, 60mg nickel, 40mg cobalt, 1mg copper, 2mg molybdenum and aluminium and 12mg tungsten, there is no effect on the determination of chromium after separation.
