2 Terms and Symbols
2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Fire water
Water source supplying fire water for water fire extinguishing facilities, vehicle-mounted or portable fire pumps and fixed fire pumps, including municipal water supply, fire reservoir, gravity fire reservoir and natural water.
2.1.2 Constant high pressure fire protection water supply system
Water supply system constantly maintaining the required operating pressure and flow of water fire extinguishing facilities, and conducting direct pressurization without fire pump in case of fire.
2.1.3 Temporary high pressure fire protection water supply system
Water supply system which fails to meet the required operating pressure and flow of water fire extinguishing facilities at original times, but automatically starts the fire pump to meet the required operating pressure and flow in case of fire.
2.1.4 Low pressure fire protection water supply system
Water supply system meeting the required operating pressure and flow for water intaking of vehicle-mounted or portable fire pumps.
2.1.5 Fire reservoir
Man-built water storage facilities for water absorption of fixed or movable fire pumps.
2.1.6 Gravity fire reservoir
Water storage facility arranged in high place and directly providing gravity water supply for fire extinguishing facility.
2.1.7 Elevated/gravity fire tank
Water storage facility arranged in high place and directly providing fire demand of fire extinguishing facility in initial fire hazard.
2.1.8 Hydrant systems/standpipe and hose systems
A system consisting of water supply facility, hydrant, water distribution network and valve.
2.1.9 Wet hydrant system/wet standpipe system
Water distribution network hydrant system filled with water at original times.
2.1.10 Dry hydrant system/dry standpipe system
Water distribution network hydrant system which is not filled at original times but filling water to water distribution network in case of fire.
2.1.11 Static pressure
The pressure of pipeline at a certain point where the water in pipe network of fire protection water supply system is static hereinafter referred to as static pressure.
2.1.12 Residual/running pressure
The difference between the total pressure and velocity pressure of pipeline at a certain point where the water in pipe network of fire protection water supply system is flowing, hereinafter referred to as running pressure.
