3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Wood-based panels
Sheeting or formed products that are made by assembling and bonding the various material units, processed mainly from timber or non-timber plant fibers, with/without adhesive and other additives, mainly including plywood, shaving board, fibre board and their surface-decorated panels.
[GB/T 18259-2009, Definition 2.1.1].
3.2
Decorated wood-based panels
Panels finished or surface-decorated with various decorative materials, with wood-based panels as the base material.
4 Test Methods
4.1 Measurement of Dimensions of Specimens
4.1.1 Apparatus
4.1.1.1 Micrometer, or similar measuring tool, 6.0 mm~20.0 mm in measuring head diameter, 0.01 mm in division value, and allowing measuring range to be selected upon the specimen thickness.
4.1.1.2 Vernier caliper: 0.1 mm in division value and allowing measuring range to be selected upon the specimen length.
4.1.2 Method
4.1.2.1 Measuring point
The number of and positions of measuring points are as specified in the standards of relevant test methods.
4.1.2.2 Thickness measurement
For thickness measurement, get the measuring surface of micrometer slowly stuck on and closely contact the specimen (the pressure applied is about 0.02 MPa~0.05 MPa). The diameter of the measuring head shall be selected according to the panel type; in principle, panels of low density and rough surface shall be measured with measuring head in large diameter.
4.1.2.3 Measurement of length and width
For length and width measurement, the vernier caliper shall be slowly clipped on the specimen, and the included angle between the caliper and the specimen surface shall be about 45°, see Figure 1.
